Best and worst day in the same week - rail job in downtown Austin

Last tuesday we had a call for a stuck elevator in a 12 story office building on Congress Ave. Got there and it was just a dirty hoistway limit switch, cleaned it in 10 minutes and the tenant manager gave us a $50 coffee card. Then friday we got a no-heat call in the same building, spent 6 hours in the machine room tracing a winding failure on the main drive motor. That repair is gonna cost them like 15k easy. Anyone else have a week where you felt like a hero then got humbled real quick?

@shane_nguyen Those big repair bills are what keeps the lights on for guys like us.

Man, that coffee card sounds nice but that winding failure is a BRUTAL way to end the week. Had a similar deal where I fixed a boiler for a guy in an hour and he tipped me $20, then three days later his whole system flooded because the main pipe I didn't touch rusted through overnight. They never remember the quick win, just the big repair bill.
