Rant: Saw a traction sheave go from smooth to grooved in under 6 months at the old library on Main.
The building manager kept ignoring our calls about a slipping rope issue. Now the whole assembly needs a costly rebuild instead of a simple adjustment. Anyone else had a client's neglect cause a much bigger repair bill?

It's everywhere... people skip oil changes until the engine seizes, ignore a leak until the ceiling caves in. That small drip becomes a flood. They'll put off a twenty dollar fix, then get mad about the two thousand dollar disaster it causes later. It's just how people are with maintenance, always chasing the cheap way out.

Classic case of penny wise, pound foolish. Saw a similar thing with a door operator where a worn gear was ignored. The whole motor had to be replaced when it finally stripped out completely. That neglect always costs ten times more in the end.
