Replaced my old brake pads and the math finally makes sense

I put $420 into a full brake shoe set for an Otis unit in a 12-story building near downtown Tacoma. The old ones were wearing uneven and I kept getting nuisance fault codes. After the swap, the car runs smooth and I haven't seen a single slowdown in three weeks. Anyone else keep records of brake wear patterns to predict the next call?

Yeah, I track all that stuff too. I jot down the wear pattern on each shoe when I pull them, like if the top is thinner than the bottom or if one side is more worn. That tells you if the guide rails are binding or if the car is riding heavy on one side. Also, I log the date and the amount of time between changes, then compare it to how many calls the building had in that span. It's not perfect, but it gives you a decent heads up before the faults start popping up again.
