Stepping out of a cab at the top floor and hearing cable slapping on the sheave is a sound I hear way too often

Was doing a service on a Hydro 2000 VVVF yesterday, third floor landing. Another company had replaced the governor cable a month ago. I heard it on my ride up and knew right away. Pulled the car up slow and saw their slack cable guide was bolted on crooked, letting the cable eat into the PVC pipe on the overspeed gov. That's just lazy finishing work. Takes five minutes to center that guide. Has anyone else started leaving sticky notes on the controller panel when you find stuff like this, or is it just me?

Oh man, I feel this SO hard. I walked onto a job last week where some hack had zip-tied the traveling cable instead of using the proper clamp, and it was already starting to fray against the car frame. It's ALWAYS the lazy stuff that's gonna fail first. I started leaving sticky notes, but my favorite trick now is photo logging everything with my phone and emailing the building manager a quick "hey, just a heads up" with the pics attached. That usually lights a fire under whoever did the sloppy work when they see their crooked guide rail or pinched wire getting called out in writing.
