Tried the cheap Chinese rail guides vs OEM for a Schindler 3300 last week - never again
Honestly thought I was saving the building $400 by going with the knockoffs. First one bound up on the third floor. Had to pull the car out of service for 2 hours while I swapped it back. The OEM ones slid smooth as butter. Building manager was pissed. Has anyone else had luck with aftermarket parts or am I just asking for trouble?

That's a pretty big deal over just some rail guides...

Ha! Oh man, that brings back memories. I once tried to save a few bucks on guide shoes for an old Otis. Figured they're just metal blocks with some lining, right? Wrong. The damn things squealed like a stuck pig every time the car passed the fifth floor. Building manager called me at 2 AM because the tenants were complaining about the noise. Had to swap em out the next morning with OEM parts. The cheap ones? They looked fine in the box but the machining was off by like a millimeter. Just not worth the headache.
