Cox quoted me $18,000 for a 3 mile fiber run... then I found a better way
I was looking at getting fiber to my shop out in a rural area near Phoenix. Cox told me $18k to run it 3 miles from the nearest junction. I found out from a county permit filing that they already had fiber running right past my property for a cell tower they put in 2 years ago. Anyone else ever had an ISP try to charge you for existing infrastructure?

Classic Cox move. They love to play dumb and make you pay for shit that's already there.

Did they send you that letter with the weird official-looking stamps too?

Oh yeah that letter with the stamps that look like they were designed in 1992 by someone who just discovered clip art! I laughed so hard when I saw the "OFFICIAL BUSINESS" banner across the top like it was a court summons. Then I opened it and it was just a bill for $47 for "equipment maintenance" on a modem I returned three years ago. The stamps were so over the top too, like they wanted me to think the government was involved. Nah buddy, it's just Cox trying to scare me into paying for their mistakes.
