Ditched Comcast Business for a local fiber coop after 8 months of outages
We had a Comcast Business line at our diner for 3 years, but after 8 months straight of random 2pm drops during lunch rush I finally snapped and switched to a local fiber coop called Rivertown Net. They got us a dedicated 500/500 line for $200 less per month, and in 6 months we've had zero downtime. Has anyone else made the jump from a big ISP to a smaller regional provider and actually seen better reliability?

Did you ever figure out if the drops were from a bad cable or a squirrel chewing something, @wendy205?

Wait, are you talking about the same Comcast I had? Look, I get that big ISPs can be a nightmare, but I've had a totally different experience with mine. I run a small shop and we had Comcast Business for about 5 years and sure, we had a couple of hiccups early on, but nothing that lasted more than an hour or two. The tech support was actually decent too, they sent a guy out same day once when our modem went bad. I'm not saying your experience is wrong, but I think a lot of it comes down to the specific area you're in and the infrastructure they have there. My buddy up in the next town has nothing but trouble with his local fiber coop, so it's not always the grass is greener on the other side. Maybe you just got a bad line or a bad install from Comcast that never got fixed right. It happens with any company, big or small.
