Found a trick to cut fiber splice failures by half in my Denver setup
I was getting way too many failed splices on our new fiber runs downtown. After three months of frustration, I realized the cleaver blade was dull from heavy use. Changed it out weekly instead of monthly and failures dropped from 8 out of 100 to 4. Has anyone else seen big improvements from simple maintenance like this?

Oh man, that's such a good catch with the cleaver blade... I had the same issue on our fiber runs up in the mountains where the dust was just killing the blade faster than I expected. Swapping it every two weeks brought my failure rate down from about 12 percent to barely 3 percent over the last couple months. It's crazy how something so simple can make that big of a difference when you're working with touchy equipment like that.
