Had to pick between a 5-year SLA with our ISP or a 1-year with a cheaper rate.

Went with the longer term for stability, but now I'm seeing new fiber options pop up. Anyone else locked into a contract and feeling stuck?

Ugh, that's the worst feeling. Signed a three year deal with my cable company last fall, and literally two months later they ran fiber down my street. Now I'm stuck paying for slower speeds while my neighbor gets gigabit for less. It feels like they knew it was coming and just wanted to lock people in. The early termination fee is crazy high, so I'm just counting down the months. Makes you feel like you got played.

That's the gamble with long contracts. You trade flexibility for a fixed cost, then watch better deals roll out for everyone else. It's basically paying a premium to avoid shopping around again next year.
