Half the enterprise quotes I see are missing proper QoS markings because sales teams don't understand the difference between CoS and DSCP.
Saw a bid for a 10 gig fiber line last week where the account manager just slapped in 'QoS enabled' without any actual traffic shaping details, and when I asked the customer what their voice traffic looks like they had no idea - has anyone else had to redo whole contracts because the pre-sales folks glossed over these tagging rules?

Figure it's worth asking how many of those "fine" setups actually have someone monitoring for jitter or packet loss when voice quality starts dropping... just because it works most of the time doesn't mean it's a good design. I've walked into too many places where they thought their 10 gig was plenty but then someone starts streaming 4K video across the WAN and suddenly the CFO's conference calls sound like they're underwater. Those tagging rules exist for a reason even if you don't hit the wall every day, and ignoring them just kicks the can down the road to when the business actually grows.

A 10 gig fiber line with just "QoS enabled" slapped on it is totally fine for 90% of businesses out there. Most small shops have like 50 users and maybe 10 VOIP handsets, they don't need strict DSCP matching or traffic policing rules to make voice work. I've seen setups with zero QoS tags where the voice traffic ran fine because the link was barely touched. All that deep traffic shaping detail matters more for massive enterprise networks with hundreds of concurrent voice channels, not your standard office with a single PRI line equivalent.
