Just fixed a major outage by actually reading the logs for once
Honestly, I was sitting in our NOC in Austin around 2 AM last Tuesday when our main fiber link to a client's HQ went dark. I spent an hour swapping hardware before I noticed a simple BGP session timeout in the logs. Turned out a firmware update on their router killed the peer config. Has anyone else wasted time chasing hardware when it was just a config issue?

Oh man, that's a classic. I think most of us have swapped hardware for hours before realizing it was just a config or a log message we skipped over.

Swapped a router three times once before noticing the power brick was loose. Not my proudest moment.
