Question about a fiber cut report I saw for our Chicago office
I was looking at our ISP's outage map yesterday and saw a note about a 'backhoe fade' causing a 12-hour outage for a building three blocks from us. I found the full incident report on their portal and it said they had a spare dark fiber pair lit up in under 90 minutes. Has anyone else's provider been that transparent with post-mortem details?

Our old provider never even sent those reports.

oh totally agree with @william407, 90 mins is crazy fast for lighting up dark fiber. i had a similar thing happen with our provider in dallas last year where they posted a whole breakdown of a "squirrel related outage" that knocked out two data centers. they gave us the exact timeline down to the minute and even included a photo of the fried transformer. its wild how some ISPs are actually getting better at sharing those post-mortem details now, makes you almost trust them again lol.
