Rant: Why I switched ISPs after 5 years of loyalty
Was with Comcast Business for 5 years. Kept having packet loss during peak hours. Told support 8 times. They kept saying it was my router. Finally got a tech out. He showed me the node was overloaded. They weren't planning to upgrade for 18 months. Switched to a local fiber provider called MetroWired last month. Night and day. What'd you do when your ISP ghosted your ticket?

That "it's your router" thing is such a classic runaround... my old ISP did the same dance with me for months before I finally got them to send someone out. Actually, the node overload thing is even worse than packet loss most people realize - it means your connection is literally fighting for bandwidth with everyone in your neighborhood. Those techs usually know exactly what's wrong but their hands are tied by management who won't approve upgrades until complaints hit a certain threshold. MetroWired sounds like a real winner though, fiber tends to be way more consistent since it doesn't have the same congestion issues cable does.

And the worst part nobody talks about is how ISPs throttle your speed right before node overload hits to try and "manage" traffic, which just makes everything laggy for no reason even when you're not peak hour.
