That stat about fiber uptime vs copper surprised me in Atlanta

I was looking into Atlanta's ISP options for our new office and found a report from Telegeography showing fiber carriers average 99.999% uptime while copper barely hits 99.9%. That extra 0.099% might sound small but it means over 5 hours more downtime a year with copper. We're in a data-heavy industry so that difference could cost us thousands in lost productivity. Has anyone else seen that gap in real world performance?

Does that mean my home copper line has a 5 hour annual coffee break I didn't know about?

Huh, that's a pretty creative image. But I doubt the copper line is taking a coffee break so much as it's just getting old and tired. I've got an old truck that needs a jump start sometimes after sitting through a cold night. Doesn't mean it's on vacation, it just means it's got a quirk. Probably the same deal with your line. Just a thing that happens sometimes, not a scheduled break.
