Debate: Should we really be double cleansing every night?

I spent 3 months doing a full oil cleanse followed by foam cleanser every evening, and my face felt tighter than ever until I tried just using a micellar water and skipping the second step. Does the double cleanse method actually help most skin types, or is it just overkill for anyone without heavy makeup?

Hell yeah, I feel this so hard. Tbh I did the double cleanse religiously for like two months and my skin turned into a dry, irritated mess around my nose and chin. I dropped the second cleanser and now just use a micellar water or a gentle balm at night and my face feels way more balanced. Honestly I think it's totally overkill for anyone who isn't caked in makeup or sunscreen, and even then you might just need a good single cleanse.

Totally overkill" is right. I made the same mistake, my face looked like a dry creek bed. I was using a heavy oil cleanser followed by a foaming cleanser and my nose and chin were basically peeling off. Now I just use a simple balm and then splash with water and it's way happier. @michaels95, I think we're both living proof that sometimes less is more, even if it feels like you're cheating.

My chin and nose went through the same peeling nightmare. I was doing oil cleanser then foam cleanser and my skin just gave up. Took me way too long to realize I was basically stripping everything off. Now I just do a quick oil cleanser at night and rinse with warm water. My skin actually holds moisture now instead of flaking off like dead leaves.
