Rant: Realized I was double-cleansing wrong for 2 years

I was using a micellar water first, then an oil cleanser second, thinking I was being thorough. My mentor watched me do a facial last month and asked why I was stripping my skin with two surfactants back to back. Has anyone else been doing their double cleanse in the wrong order this whole time?

Double cleansing is usually about layering products from thinnest to thickest, so micellar water before an oil cleanser would make more sense if that's your thing. But honestly, if your skin looks fine and nothing's breaking you out, it's probably not worth stressing over the order. Micellar water is basically just a gentle cleanser anyway, so using it after an oil cleanse is like washing your face twice with slightly different soap.
