Finally gave in and tried two-factor auth after my email got hacked

I always thought two-factor authentication was a hassle until someone got into my old Yahoo account last month and sent spam to everyone I knew. Took me like 4 hours to clean it up and apologize to my contacts. Now I use Google Authenticator on my phone and it takes maybe 10 extra seconds to log in. Has anyone else had that moment where you finally realize the security thing is actually worth it?

Pretty sure my email getting hacked was a right of passage at this point, just like yours. Nothing like spending your evening explaining to your grandma that no, you're not stuck in an airport in Nigeria and need iTunes gift cards.

Oh dude, you're preaching to the choir. I had the same wake up call when someone got into my Steam account and spent like 200 bucks buying skins for games I don't even play. That sucked. Now I use Authy on my phone and it's way less annoying than I thought, plus it backs up my codes if I get a new phone. Definitely worth the extra few seconds for peace of mind.
