Found out my smart plug was costing me more than I thought
I was checking my energy bill online and saw a weird $5 charge labeled 'vampire power'. Did some digging and found out my old smart plug in the guest room was drawing power 24/7 even when nothing was plugged into it. The energy company's app showed it used about 40 watts just sitting there idle. I unplugged it and my next bill dropped. Anyone else find sneaky power drains in their setup?

That "vampire power" is just the cost of convenience. Smart home stuff always uses a little juice.

My old coffee maker used to draw power even when it was off... drove me nuts until I unplugged it. The little red clock was costing me like twenty bucks a year just to tell time.

Wait 40 watts just sitting there doing nothing? That's actually insane for a single plug. My whole entertainment center on standby doesn't pull that much. You basically had a light bulb on all year for no reason.
