Heard someone say phone chargers wear out faster if you wrap them tight

I was waiting at the DMV last Tuesday (already a nightmare) and this guy next to me was telling his friend that coiling your charging cable super tight actually breaks the wires inside over time. He said loose loops are better. I thought about my last 3 cables that stopped working after a few months and it clicked. Has anyone else noticed this with their phone cords?

oh man, that DMV guy was totally right. i used to wrap my cables in those tight little figure eights and they'd die in like 3 months every time. started doing loose loops, like big floppy circles, and my current charger has lasted over a year now. the wires inside are super thin, so when you yank them tight they get stressed at the bends and eventually snap. i also stopped yanking the cord from the base and started pulling from the plug part instead, that helped a ton too. probably not gonna save your cable if you let your cat chew on it though, learned that one the hard way lol.
