My phone died at the airport and I had to figure out my gate the hard way

I was at O'Hare last month trying to catch a flight to Seattle. My phone battery hit zero right after I went through security. I had to walk to every single departure screen to find my gate number, which took me 15 minutes. Now I always take a screenshot of my boarding pass before I leave the security line. I also write the gate number on my paper ticket if I have one. What's your backup plan for when your tech fails at the worst time?

Walking around an airport for fifteen minutes sounds like a minor hassle, not a real crisis. People flew for decades without phones in their pockets. It's good to have a backup, but calling it the "worst time" seems a bit much. A dead phone just means you have to look at the big screens like everyone used to do.

The Atlanta airport is over 6 million square feet. You could walk for an hour and not find your gate without a phone to check the map.

Agree with jadep41, it's not that big a deal.
