My phone died right when I needed directions in Seattle

I was trying to find a specific coffee shop downtown last month and my battery hit zero. I remembered an old trick my friend Mark told me: you can ask a store to charge it for a minute just to get a map up. I went into a hardware store, showed them the address, and they let me plug in for five minutes. Got enough juice to pull up the route and walk there. What's your go-to move when your phone dies in a new city?

My buddy got lost in Chicago and just asked a random bus driver for directions, dude sketched a whole map on a napkin for him.

That whole "drew a map on a napkin" thing sounds wild, but honestly that story totally changed my mind about people in big cities. I used to think everyone from Chicago was too busy to help a lost tourist like that. @sama80 your friend got lucky with that driver, not every city has people willing to go that far out of their way for a stranger.
