The 10-Minute Phone Purge That Saved My Battery Life

I spent weeks deleting apps and closing tabs, but my phone battery still died by 3 PM. Then I tried a different fix: I turned off background refresh for every app except my messaging and calendar. That one change, done in under 10 minutes last Tuesday, got me through a full day with 30% left. Some folks swear by battery saver mode all the time, but I think targeted settings beat a blanket switch. Has anyone else found a simple setting tweak that outperformed the obvious solutions?

Turning off background refresh was huge for me too, but the game changer was disabling location services for apps that don't need it. My weather app was pinging my location every few minutes even when I never opened it. Killed that and my battery stopped dropping like a rock. Also found out my music app was refreshing in the background even though I only stream. One day of tweaking settings beat a week of closing apps one by one.
