The neighbor who made me quit my password manager habit

I ran my whole life through one password app for about 4 years, felt invincible. Then my neighbor, who does IT for a school district, showed me how a single breach on their end could expose every login I had. He said, 'the lock is only as good as the company holding the key,' and that stuck with me. I switched to a hardware key plus a paper backup in my safe, costs me $35 total. Now I sleep better knowing my accounts aren't tied to one server. Anyone else move off cloud password managers after a scare like this?
