Grandma's cast iron cornbread recipe finally won me over

I always thought her recipe was too simple with just cornmeal, egg, and buttermilk. Then last Sunday I made it for a potluck and three people asked for the recipe. Guess I'll be making it from now on.

Honestly I had to read that twice! Three people asked for the recipe from just cornmeal, egg, and buttermilk? That's wild. Ngl I've always been suspicious of those super simple recipes because it feels like they can't possibly be that good. But maybe that's the magic right there - keeping it plain and letting the cornbread itself shine. Guess I gotta try it now cause I've been burned by fancy recipes way too many times.
