My aunt's handwritten recipe card that sent me to the hardware store
Last Thanksgiving I tried to make my aunt's famous cornbread dressing from her recipe card. Halfway through I realized '1 can of cream of mushroom' was actually '1 can of creamed corn' and I had to run to the grocery store at 4pm on a Wednesday to fix it. Has anyone else had a recipe get totally transformed by one wrong ingredient?

My 92 year old grandma's banana bread recipe says "1/2 cup of lard." Found out last year that was her handwritten code for shortening because she ran out of room on the card. Swapped it for butter once and the bread came out like a hockey puck, so now I just keep a tub of Crisco around.
