My grandma's pie recipe got 500 shares and it's kind of a problem
I mean, I posted her apple crumble pie recipe here maybe six months ago, just because it's the one thing I make that always feels like home. It's got this weird step where you mix the sugar with a pinch of black pepper, which sounds wrong but it works. I woke up today and saw the post had hit 500 shares, which is wild for our little group. But now I'm seeing comments from people saying they 'improved' it by using margarine instead of real butter or leaving out the pepper because it's 'too much'. It feels like they're missing the point. That recipe is a memory of my grandma's kitchen in Cincinnati, not just a list of parts to swap out. It matters because it's hers, exactly as she wrote it on her old notecard. Has anyone else had a family recipe get popular and then changed by people who didn't grow up with it?

Why do people always gotta mess with a good thing? It's your grandma's recipe, not a suggestion box.

Honestly, 500 shares is a lot but it's just a recipe online now. People change stuff all the time, that's how cooking works. Tbh your grandma's memory is safe with you even if someone uses margarine. It feels a bit much to get upset over how strangers make their pie.
