Pro tip: My grandma's cornbread recipe got ruined by self-rising flour last Thanksgiving
I used self-rising flour instead of regular plus baking powder and the whole thing turned into a salty brick. Turns out she wrote the recipe in 1962 before self-rising was everywhere. Anyone else have a family recipe that needs modern tweaking?

Man, I swapped out the baking and the flour separately and it fixed mine right up.

Respectfully gotta disagree with you on that one. I did the same thing swapping both out and it still gave me the same weird texture issues. Felt like it was more about the temp being off or maybe the mixing method I was using. Glad it worked for you though, just saying there might be other stuff messing with it too.
