Had a draft horse with a cracked hoof wall that kept splitting higher up.
I tried a trick from a guy in Kentucky where you drill a tiny hole at the top of the crack to stop it from traveling, then fill it with super glue and baking soda. It held solid for the six weeks it took the hoof to grow out. Anyone else use this method on bad wall cracks?

Oh, that's a classic fix. Just a heads up, most farriers will tell you to use acrylic or a proper hoof patch instead of super glue.

Actually, a lot of farriers I know will use super glue for small cracks or quick fixes in a pinch. The acrylic or patch is definitely the better, longer-lasting fix for a bigger problem, but super glue has its place in the toolbox.

Wait, is that even safe for the hoof long term though? I've heard some people say super glue can trap moisture underneath and make things worse, especially if you don't get it completely dry. Wouldn't that cause a bigger problem down the line with infection or separation? I mean, I get using it in an emergency, but it seems like a gamble compared to the proper acrylic stuff.
