Hot shoe vs. glue-on shoes for problem feet - which one wins?

I've been going back and forth on this for months. Did a full set of glue-ons on a chronic foundering pony last Tuesday, and the owner said he's moving better than he has in 2 years, but the glue alone cost me $45 more than a standard hot shoe job. Is the extra cost and prep time really worth it, or am I just making more work for myself?
