I used to think those magnetic hoof stands were just a pricey gimmick until I borrowed one for a big draft horse in Kentucky.

Still seems like a gimmick to me, just a fancy way to overpay for a basic job.

Yeah, but calling it a "basic job" misses the point. A real pro brings a system, like checking for water damage under old flooring or knowing which sealants actually last. Doing it yourself often means missing those details, which costs more later. That's what you're paying for, not just the labor.

My buddy thought he could save money laying his own tile and ended up with a slope that drained water into his baseboards instead of the drain. Cost him triple what a pro would've charged to rip it up and fix the mold that grew underneath. Sometimes paying a little more upfront saves you from learning a really expensive lesson.
