Pro tip: try a half-round rasp on a bad quarter crack before you reach for glue
Had a horse in Lexington with a quarter crack that kept splitting no matter how much I patched it. Swapped to a half-round rasp to feather the edges way smoother and that crack sealed up in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had luck with a specific rasp shape on tricky hoof wall splits?

Hard to say it's really that cut and dry. Quarter cracks can be stubborn and sometimes it's the angle of your rasping that matters more than the shape. I've seen farriers swear by a flat rasp on those because you get more consistent pressure across the wall. Half-rounds can dig in too deep if you're not careful and then you're chasing more damage. But hey if it worked for that horse maybe you just got lucky with how the crack was sitting.

I mean a flat rasp actually creates more of a groove than a consistent surface, not less.
