Remember when we used to make our own forge blowers from old car parts?

Back in 2003 I rigged up a belt driven blower from a 76 Chevy alternator and it worked fine for years. Now I just plug in this fancy Centaur unit that cost $400 but barely needs any upkeep. Any of you old timers still using homemade setups or are we all spoiled by modern gear?

My buddy Frankie welded up a blower from a 70s Ford starter motor and a squirrel cage fan he found at the dump. Ran that thing for like 15 years before the bearings finally gave out.

That's a bummer man, hate to see good homemade gear finally give out.
