Saw something weird at a barn in Kentucky last weekend

I was trimming a horse in Lexington and noticed the farrier before me had left the shoes way too long on this old mare. Her toes were curled under and she had a hell of a crack starting. Has anyone else run into a situation where you're fixing someone else's mistakes and you have to decide how much to say to the owner?

Is it really your place to say anything though? I mean, the owner hired that farrier for a reason and might not appreciate unsolicited criticism even if you're right.

Did you ever have a neighbor who just couldn't keep their nose out of your business, no matter how nicely you asked them to stop prying into things? It reminds me of my old friend Linda who used to get into arguments at the feed store about other people's hay choices.
