Talked with a vet about hoof balance and it clicked
I was trimming a big draft horse for a client in Redmond last week and their vet stopped by. She watched me work for a minute and said, 'You're focusing on the wall, but the whole frog needs to share the load.' I realized I'd been over-trimming the bars trying to get a 'clean' look. Now I'm leaving more bar and the horse is moving way better. Anyone else have a simple tip that changed their approach?

Less perfect" trims changed my whole view too.

Yeah @ray_martinez, I was the same until I saw how much better they moved.

Wow, that's a huge one. Honestly, I used to be so focused on getting the toe back and the heel down that I'd get the whole foot way too short. Seeing a horse actually move better after a trim that looked a little less "perfect" to me was a total game changer. Now I check the breakover and leave more sole than I used to.
