Got told my draping was 'too safe' and it stung for a week

My instructor at FIT said my last 3 dresses looked like I was scared to take risks, which honestly hurt since I spent 40 hours on each one. She made me redo the whole collection with asymmetrical cuts and raw edges, and now two of those pieces actually got picked for the spring show. How do you push yourself out of a comfort zone without feeling like you're losing your own style?

Saw a quote that said growth happens right outside your comfort zone, totally applies here.

Honestly I used to think tough feedback like that was just instructors being mean for no reason, but reading how yours actually pushed you into something that worked changed my mind. Getting told your work is "too safe" is brutal but it's wild how a little push can show you stuff you didn't know you had.
