My cousin told me to put pockets in a silk dress for a wedding guest
She said it was a must for holding a phone and lipstick, so I added two hidden side pockets. The bride's aunt actually thanked me during the reception because she could keep her tissues handy. Has anyone else gotten weird pocket advice that actually worked out?

Honestly, why risk it? Silk is so delicate, and adding pockets can mess with the drape and create weird pulls. I'd rather just carry a small clutch and keep the dress looking smooth.

My tailor added pockets to my silk dress last year, jessicad98, and you can't even tell.

Ha, jokes on me because I once added pockets to a cotton sundress and they ended up so deep I kept losing my car keys in there. But hey, at least I didn't try to stash a whole bottle of wine like I wanted to. Your cousin's advice is honestly genius though - who knew hidden pockets could be a bridal party lifesaver? I'm definitely stealing that trick for my next formal dress, just maybe with shallower pockets so I don't accidentally pocket dial the DJ.
