Shoutout to noticing fabric textures in my grandma's old quilts

Honestly, I was helping my grandma clean out her attic and saw all these old quilts. Tbh, the way the fabrics felt together gave me this idea for a layered jacket design. Ngl, I'm sketching it out with different materials like denim and corduroy. It's all about mixing soft and rough textures for a cool look.

Ever hear about texture sparking a full project? My buddy found this old wool blanket at a thrift store, and the scratchy feel of it made him design a whole vest lined with fleece. He said the contrast was the whole point.

Read a piece on how texture can start a design. They said putting different feels together can make the whole thing (like rough wool next to soft fleece). Your buddy's vest is spot on.

My old art teacher used to say texture is just one tool, not the whole box. She'd have us start with a shape or a color story first, then add the feels later. A vest can work that way too, right? The cut comes before the cloth.
