Shoutout to that awful Wednesday that made me redesign my jacket pattern

I had a terrible day last Tuesday when I was testing a new jacket design with these cool zip-off sleeves I was excited about. The zipper snagged on the fabric lining during the third try and completely ripped the seam open. That moment made me realize I needed to ditch the zippers and try magnetic snaps instead, which took about 4 hours to sew in but worked so much better. Now I'm reworking the whole pattern and the magnets actually let me swap sleeves faster! Has anyone else had a failed detail force them to completely change a design mid-project?

Man, that's rough but honestly kind of hilarious... I've definitely had a project fight back like that before. It's always when you think you're being clever with some fancy detail that the whole thing just falls apart in your hands. It's a good save with the magnets though, sometimes the fails end up leading to something way better.

Wait, you sewed those magnets in by HAND instead of using a machine?
