My uncle told me to always set my post holes 6 inches deeper than the frost line in Michigan, and last winter proved him right when my neighbor's fence started heaving and mine stayed put.
Has anyone else found a specific depth rule that saved a job from the weather?

Huh, I've always just gone right to the frost line and never had an issue. Maybe it depends on your soil type.

You're lucky, @shane_williams, my soil's a mess.

Why ignore a proven rule that saved your fence @shane_williams, just to save a few inches of digging?
