Tried using a string line level for a 200 ft run and it threw me off by 2 inches

I set up a string line on a big job last month at a farm near Austin. Figured it was close enough for a pasture fence. When I dug the holes and set the posts, the whole line was off by almost 2 inches at the far end. Turns out the string sagged in the middle with a 30 mph wind gusting. Now I always use a laser level for anything over 100 feet. Has anyone else had a string line mess up their spacing on a long run?

Man that wind is a killer, I had a 150 foot deck layout go crooked on me the same way last spring. Feels like a simple tool should work but the sag just kills you on long spans.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just tie a cinder block to the other end and call it a day?
