Kombucha from a jar I bought at a gas station changed my mind
I always thought store bought kombucha was just overpriced vinegar water. But on a road trip through Ohio last month I grabbed a bottle of Ginger Berry from a Pilot station because nothing else looked good. I tried it cold that evening and the fizz was perfect, not too sour or sweet. That convinced me to try making my own scoby at home. Has anyone else had a random drink turn them into a fermenter?

Did you ever get that homemade batch brewing? I tried ginger berry kombucha once and it was way too sweet for me. But that first good fizz is a total game changer for sure. Making your own scoby is a solid move if you ask me.

Took three tries to get a batch that didnt taste like sour vinegar. Finally got one that was drinkable and then realized I had to keep feeding this thing like a pet I never asked for. It's basically a science experiment you have to do every week. Honestly I think people get way too intense about the whole process. Its just fermented tea with sugar, not curing world hunger.
