Tried a new airlock design from a craft fair and my whole batch went bad

I spent about $15 on this fancy glass airlock that looked cool but didn't seal right. Lost a 3-gallon batch of sauerkraut I'd been working on for a month. Anyone know a reliable brand for basic airlocks that won't fail?

Honestly, that glass airlock probably worked fine. I've used similar ones for years without a single seal issue. The problem is almost always user error, like not setting the lid correctly or having a bad gasket on the fermenter itself. You should check your crock or jar before blaming the airlock.

Ugh, I totally get that frustration. It's so easy to blame the shiny new thing instead of the old faithful parts. I've definitely been guilty of that myself.

Ever have that happen with a plastic lid warping? Mine stopped sealing right after a few hot washes. Switched to a metal one and it fixed my airlock problems.
