Craziest week at the shop: saved a guy $1,200 with a $30 part

This guy rolled in with his 2015 Ram 1500, dealer quoted him a new transmission for $4,200. I found it was just a bad speed sensor, swapped it in 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a time where a simple fix saved someone from getting hosed?

$4,200 for a transmission just because a sensor went bad? that's criminal honestly. dealers get away with this stuff way too often because most people just trust whatever they say. i can't believe they wouldn't even bother checking the simple stuff first before jumping to the most expensive fix. good on you for actually taking the time to diagnose it properly, that guy probably thinks you're a wizard now lol. stuff like this is why i always tell my friends to get a second opinion before dropping big money on repairs.
