Got hit with a $400 plumbing bill because I ignored a slow drain for 6 months
Last Tuesday the kitchen sink backed up completely and the plumber pulled out a clump of grease and food that I could have cleaned monthly for free, so has anyone else learned the hard way that small fixes save big money?

Every time something like this happens it makes me think about how we treat our cars the same way. You hear a weird noise or a little squeak and just turn up the radio. Next thing you know the transmission is shot and you're out two grand. Or people who ignore a tiny crack in their phone screen until the whole thing goes black. We're all just out here pretending small problems will fix themselves.

Just fixed a squeaky belt before it snapped by paying attention early, saved me a tow bill.

I used to be the worst about that honestly. I'd see a weird drip or a little noise and just tell myself I'd deal with it later. This post kind of woke me up though, now I actually fix things the first time I notice them.
