First paycheck number that hit different: $2,340.17

I remember staring at my first real paycheck from my job at a warehouse in Phoenix and the cents part got me. Like why seventeen cents? It made it feel so specific and real. That number was more than I had ever had at once before and I just sat there on my couch doing the math in my head. It mattered because it was proof I could actually do adult stuff even if I had no clue what to do with the money. My mom told me to save half but I bought a used Xbox instead. Anyone else remember a weird detail from their first paycheck that stuck with them?

My brother got his first paycheck for $1,782.41 and he spent it all on a fog machine and disco ball for his bedroom.
