Old timer at the hardware store taught me how to fix a leaky pipe with a pencil
I was standing in the plumbing aisle at Ace Hardware in Springfield last spring, totally lost on which epoxy to buy for a pinhole leak under my kitchen sink. An old guy in a flannel walked up, grabbed a standard number 2 pencil, and said 'shave the graphite into the hole, then wrap it with electrical tape.' It held for two years until I finally replaced the pipe. Has anyone else gotten a fix from a random stranger that worked way better than it should have?

I had a similar thing happen at a gas station in '18. Random guy saw me staring at my dead battery and told me to pour a can of Coke on the terminals to clean the corrosion. Right on the money, fired right up and held for months after. Sometimes old school hacks just hit different lol.

Pour a can of what now, the sugar alone probably baked into a worse problem later.
