Finally figured out why my desk lamp was giving me headaches after 2 years
I have this cheap LED desk lamp from Target that I've been using for like 2 years now. Kept getting these dull headaches after an hour or two of working at my desk. Tried changing the bulb, moving it around, even got one of those blue light glasses. Nothing helped. Then last week I was cleaning a customer's house and noticed her setup had a warm bulb in her lamp instead of the cool white one. So I swapped my lamp's bulb to a soft warm 2700K one and holy cow. The difference is night and day. My eyes don't feel strained anymore. Who knew color temperature mattered that much for a simple desk setup? Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen where a tiny change made a huge difference?

Oh, that is such a good point. I had a similar thing happen with my bedside reading lamp a few years back. I used to sit up reading with this harsh 5000K bulb and I could never figure out why I felt so wired and couldn't fall asleep after. Swapped it to a 2700K and my brain finally started to wind down like it should. It's wild how much light temperature affects your nervous system. It's not just about brightness, it's almost like the color tells your brain what time of day it is. I think a lot of people just grab whatever bulb is cheapest without realizing how much that little detail changes everything.

Swapped mine out a couple years ago too and it made a huge difference. Honestly, the cheap LEDs they sell at big box stores are all just 5000K by default and it messes with people without them even realizing. I went with a dimmable 2700K bulb on a smart switch so it goes even warmer at night, almost like candlelight. Took maybe a week for my body to adjust but now I can actually feel myself getting sleepy when that warm light kicks in. Small change but it really does fool your brain into thinking its sunset.
