Caught myself back-butting vinyl plank for months before a foreman spoke up

I was on a job in Arlington laying LVP and I always pulled the flooring toward me when cutting. Foreman walked by and asked why I was back-butting everything. Had no clue what he meant. Turns out I was cutting from the wrong side of the plank and putting the damaged edge facing out. He showed me in like 2 minutes how to flip it. Has anyone else found out they were doing some basic step totally backwards?

Bet your cuts were way more accurate back-butting though.

Ha, you're probably right! I swear my miter saw used to get a workout every weekend, but these days I'm just not as sharp with the angles. I had to re-cut three pieces of baseboard last week because I was off by a hair, and I remember when I could nail those inside corners first try. Now I just blame it on the tools being old, but honestly, it's probably me getting a little lazy with the measuring.
