I finally figured out how to get a tight seam on that old plank vinyl in a 1950s kitchen

The problem was the edges were all wavy and worn, so the new piece wouldn't lock in right. After messing with it for an hour, I tried heating the old plank's edge with a heat gun for about 30 seconds to soften it up. Once it was warm, I could press the new tongue into the groove and it clicked together like new. Has anyone else found a good fix for that kind of worn-out locking system?

Did you worry about the heat damaging the old vinyl at all?

Heat trick works a treat on stubborn laminate too.
