PSA: My buddy's 'quick fix' for uneven subfloor ruined my job
Last month a guy Ive worked with for years told me to just use extra leveling compound to patch a low spot under some LVP. Said it would save me time over pulling the old plywood. I trusted him and poured a thick layer in a 4x6 area. It dried overnight but cracked like crazy after I walked on it the next morning. Then the LVP started clicking and shifting after two days. I had to rip up 300 square feet of flooring and start over. Took me 12 extra hours and cost me $200 in material. Has anyone else had a shortcut from a coworker backfire this bad?

Bet you poured it way too thick in one go though.

Had a buddy do the same thing on his own basement floor and it crumbled to dust inside two weeks. He had to chip it all out with a hammer drill and then pour a proper self-leveler in thin lifts. He still gets crap about it every time someone mentions LVP installs.
